Why wear a Veil?

Wearing a veil on your wedding day is a long-standing tradition that symbolizes the transition from single life to marriage. Beyond its symbolic meaning, a veil adds an elegant quality to your bridal ensemble. Elizabeth Cole Bridal loves a veil for the dramatic effect it adds to a wedding look and how they can help a bride customize and personalize her bridal style.  Whether it’s a heavily embroidered lace or a plain soft tulle, a wedding veil can elevate your look and create stunning visual moments during your ceremony and photographs!

Wedding Veil Styles

  1. Birdcage Veil

The birdcage veil is a vintage-inspired style that is attached to the top of the head and typically falls just below the eyes. This is a great option for a retro-themed wedding.

  1. Blusher Veil

A blusher veil is a short veil that covers your face before the ceremony. Traditionally after she walks down the aisle the veil is then lifted to symbolize the “unveiling” of herself to her new spouse and the act of the father “giving away” his daughter to the groom. A blusher can be attached to any length veil.

  1. Elbow-Length Veil

As stated in the name, an elbow-length veil ends at the bride’s elbows. This particular length compliments a variety of dress silhouettes, anywhere from a mermaid to an A-line.

  1. Fingertip Veil

The fingertip veil is a popular style that extends to the bride’s fingertips. This style of veil can be worn over the shoulders that frames the bride’s face and silhouette.

  1. Waltz Veil

A waltz length veil will end around the ankle or calf level depending on your height. This length can elongate a bride.

  1. Cathedral Veil

A cathedral veil (ECB’s favorite length) is all about the drama. These veils cascade past the length of a bride’s gown and really an elegant touch to the overall wedding look. Cathedral veils can be a single layer of tulle or might have a blusher layer that is worn in front of the bride’s face as she walks down the aisle. Our favorite combination? A clean and classic wedding gown with a cathedral lace veil!

Elizabeth Cole Bridal partners with Sara Gabriel for the majority of our veil collection. Sara Gabriel veils are designed and hand made by women in Denver Colorado. They are highly customizable so each bride can perfect her personal bridal style. Beccar and Lea-Ann Belter also makes the most stunning lace veils to compliment their gowns!

Veils typically take less time to order, but brides should still plan on purchasing at least 4 months before the wedding!
